Automate your wiki with synto. For founders seeking local AI knowledge management.
202 stars17 forksPythonQuality 8/10Updated 7/18/2026100% free Β· open source
What it does

Synto automates your local wiki by extracting concepts from Markdown notes and auto-linking them in your Obsidian wiki, all while keeping your notes private and local.

Install / run
git clone https://github.com/kytmanov/synto && cd synto
When to use it
  • β€’When you have a large number of Markdown notes and want to create a wiki without manually linking concepts
  • β€’When you want to keep your knowledge management system completely local and private
  • β€’When you're using Obsidian for note-taking and want to leverage AI to enhance your wiki
Quick start
  1. 1Create a new Markdown note in your notes directory, e.g., 'note.md'
  2. 2Run 'python synto/extract.py note.md' to extract concepts from the note
  3. 3Configure your Obsidian wiki path in 'synto/config.json'
  4. 4Run 'python synto/link.py' to auto-link concepts in your Obsidian wiki
  5. 5Verify the auto-linked notes in your Obsidian wiki
Ready-to-paste prompt
python synto/extract.py path/to/your/note.md --output path/to/your/wiki
Heads up: Make sure you have Python installed and the 'ollama' library is compatible with your system, as synto relies on it for local AI knowledge management
