Iot-Telemetry-Simulator

The IoT Telemetry Simulator allows you to test Azure IoT Hub or Eventhub ingestion at scale. The implementation is communicating with Azure IoT Hub using multiplexed AMQP connections. An automation library allows you to run it as load test as part of a CI/CD pipeline.

What it does

Simulates thousands of IoT devices sending telemetry to Azure IoT Hub or Event Hub so you can stress‑test your ingestion pipeline.

When to use it
  • •You need to validate that a new IoT Hub tier can handle the expected device count before go‑live.
  • •You want to include an automated load‑test in your CI/CD pipeline for every hub‑configuration change.
  • •You are benchmarking different message sizes or protocols (AMQP multiplexing) to pick the most cost‑effective setup.
Ready-to-paste prompt
dotnet run --project src/Simulator -- -d 5000 -r 20 -m 256 -t 60 --useEventHub
Heads up: The simulator requires an IoT Hub *owner* connection string (iothubowner policy) or an Event Hub compatible endpoint; using a device‑level key will cause authentication failures.
